The old American system was basically go to school, get a good education, get a good job and you will be set for life but increasing number of people have been finding out in last couple of decades that it is not working anymore. The technological advancements, innovations and change in markets have caused the old system to collapse. Large number of college graduates and PHDs are finding themselves without job or working in a completely different profession from what they graduated in.
In this age of internet revolution where innovations are coming every single day, the old system of go to school and get a good job just doesn’t cut it. New innovations are completely wiping off just a few day ago’s miracles. In this cutthroat competition, there is only one way: survival of the fittest. It’s an age of “Entrepreneurship.”
Unlike the baby boomer generation, people can’t stick to one job and wait for pensions anymore. There is no job security because there is no “business survival security” unless it’s advancing at the speed of thought like innovations are happening now.
So, we might have to revise our thought process and beliefs before we can survive in this market. We might have to renounce the things our loving family members taught us so that we can create a better future in the changed scenario.
